Danish NLM and German OH Plus joins forces

Danish NLM A/S and German OHplus GmbH join forces in creating a Northern European recycling and upcycling player of industrial by-products and residues. The merger is supported by the Danish private equity firm CataCap and international investor Schröders, together with the founders of NLM and OHplus who will continue as shareholders and as part of daily management.

The merger comes approx. 15 months following CataCap’s (Danish private equity fund) entry as majority shareholder in NLM Vantinge Group Holding ApS with the intention to support the growth of both Lipitec (feedstuff) and NLM (recycling of by-products and residues). The founders of both NLM and OHplus will reinvest alongside CataCap and Schröders.

We are thrilled to support the merger between NLM and OHplus and we are certain the merger will fuel the growth going forward utilising the strength from both businesses”, says Rasmus Lokvig, deputy chairman and partner in CataCap.

NLM A/S, located in Vantinge, Denmark is an industrial service company that handles by-products and residues, which after processing and certification are included in the production of heat, biodiesel and biogas. The company’s main competence is recycling of by-products from industries that produce margarine, surfactants, soaps, emulsifiers, fatty acids, biodiesel, glycerol, milk powder, etc. that are based on vegetable fat and oil products. The by-products are primarily sourced from Europe.

For the past 15 years, OHplus and NLM have had a close and trusted cooperation with each other. We see the merger as a natural step in order to support the growing demand for high quality certified recycled by-products”, says Per Leth Sørensen, CEO of NLM Group.

OHplusGmbH is a refiner of crude glycerine mainly from biodiesel production. The company was established in 2005 by Knut Brockhaus and Erich Fischer and has today a state-of-the-art refinement facility in Stassfurt Germany. OHplus is refining various kinds of crude glycerine mainly from waste based biodiesel production in Europe. The certified by-products from refining are included in the production of sustainable and advanced biofuels. The refined glycerine is intended for a variety of technical applications using this bio-based product as a sustainable raw material (green chemistry).

Merging with NLM is the right thing to do for us. We know each other very well and we share the same vision with regards to product quality, customer support ad product development. Hence, we feel both OHplus and NLM will benefit from the merger. We look very much forward to the coming years”, says Knut Brockhaus, founder and CEO of OHplus GmbH.
